JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Candidate will develop in-depth understanding of High Power Modules and laser components and principles of operation, measurements, test methods and reliability required in numerous applications. He or she will become a key member of the NPD team responsible to insure that new product prototypes meet “manufacturing readiness” requirements, as well as working and collaborating with the production and operations team to deliver prototypes to meet the same readiness standard. Responsibilities of this position also include becoming extremely knowledgeable of the existing manufacturing processes, maintaining a working knowledge of market applications, customers and design needs. This person will formulate and establish product definitions, features and operation descriptions. He or she will conduct experimentation related to research and development; collect and distill relevant results to appropriate parties and propose and write application notes related to manufacturing and measurement methods. There will be strong interaction with customers focusing on problem solving and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to service global customers. This position carries the ultimate responsibility for delivery of prototypes according to schedule together with the latitude to specify materials, equipment, process documents and test plans to realize new products into the manufacturing group.

• JOB QUALIFICATIONS: This person will have a demonstrated “hands-on” engineering approach and experience with new product development, as well as being able to defend the company’s intellectual property portfolio. There will be a willingness to thrive in a fast paced entrepreneurial technology-driven culture. He or she will be results-driven capable of meeting aggressive double-digit business growth targets. The candidate must have strong project management skills, business acumen, and a demonstrated experimental experience in working with light propagation in optical fibers. There will be both a broad understanding of and the ability to apply physical, geometrical and quantum principles together with a strong knowledge of fundamental wavequide components and concepts. There will be a proven record of creativity and innovation. He or she will be a strong mentor in science and engineering. Previous experience with Japanese companies is a plus. EDUCATION: This position requires a formal education in optics, physics or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred with at least 5 years relevant “hands-on” experience. COMPENSATION: Base compensation will be in the $90,000 range commensurate with the background and experience of the candidate. This position is bonus eligible.
