· Respond to internal or external customer needs with a structured design approach that responds to customer requirements and develops associated product detailed requirements
· Assure all aspects of the requirements are in the design of optoelectronic packages, modules and subassemblies
o Insure parts have appropriate tolerances and are producible
o Insure parts meet structural requirements
o Insure parts meet thermal requirements
o Insure parts are compatible with the optical and electronic aspects of the design
· Design, detail and develop jigs, fixtures, tooling and equipment required for the assembly of optoelectronic packages, modules and subassemblies
· Work with purchasing department to specify and procure necessary piece parts, jigs, tools, equipment and outside services
· Assemble, integrate and commission tools, fixtures and equipment
· Build, test, analyze and debug prototypes and pre-production parts
· Conduct necessary qualification of designs and parts
· Document designs, processes, procedures, and inspection requirements
· Transfer designs, processes and procedures to manufacturing as required
· Train production personnel as required in designs, equipment, processes and procedures
· Other duties as assigned which may include
o Process development
o Failure analysis, root cause and corrective action efforts
o Communicating with customers and suppliers
