Sr. Electronic Engineer - Spectroscopy & Sensor Systems

Basic Functions: 1) Design and develop electronic subsystems for spectroscopy and other sensor systems for use in harsh environments. 2) Assemble prototype systems. 3) Diagnose faulty systems returned from field use. 4) Assist with other spectroscopy R&D initiatives. Scope of Work: The person hired for this position will perform all necessary steps associated with design, development and engineering of digital and analogue circuits, encompassing use of microcontrollers, CCD camera control systems, active and passive heat management systems and data acquisition systems. Duties will include managing external contractors for firmware programming of microcontrollers, high-level language programming for control and data acquisition systems, including PC interfacing, manufacture of circuit boards, and design and supply of mechanical fixtures for the electronic and heat management sub systems. The successful applicant will also be required to work with other internal R&D and Manufacturing functions to fully integrate electronic subs systems with the optical train. Principal Interactions: Operations, chief technology officer, engineering manager, research and development team, software engineers and quality assurance department. Knowledge/Education Requirements: BS in Electronics preferred. 7+ years hands on experience with electronics systems design and instrumentation required.
