Mechanical Assembler

REPORTS TO: Production Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:  A high-tech optical products manufacturer located in Boulder, CO is seeking a Mechanical Assembler.  The successful Mechanical Assembler will be responsible for modifying mechanical parts in the machine shop; following detailed procedures for assembly and test; performing incoming inspection; refining assembly procedures; assembling electronics racks; assembling and plumbing chillers; maintaining an orderly and clean shipping and receiving area; and crating and uncrating fragile laser systems.  The candidate must be able to thrive in a production environment with rapidly changing priorities and take direction from a variety of people and prioritize accordingly. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  The candidate must have three to five years of experience in a similar position; demonstrate an aptitude for detail-oriented mechanical assembly work; possess excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills; be willing to learn new skills; be able to operate power hand tools, lathes, mills, and band saws; and be able to lift up to 35 lbs. Preference will be given to candidates experienced with vacuum and/or opto-mechanical assembly.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED.
