Position: Metrology Engineer
Metrology Engineer will provide the QA engineering resources to both develop and maintain measurement systems for components and final product. Responsible for supporting all areas of production as well as incoming inspection, calibration and new product development. Responsibilities include: -Leads the development of test methods and procedures with QA, Manufacturing and New Products Engineers for all production areas and new products. -Develops methods for calibration of all gages at LNS, LNX and Electronic Packaging. Oversees overall calibration system as well as technicians for the execution of routine calibrations. -Works with a wide variety of gages, instruments, and inspection devices including manual / hand measurement tools, CMM, vision / optical inspection systems. -Determines process and machine capabilities for use in quoting customer orders and identifying areas for improvement. -Determines accuracy and applicability of measurements. -Obtains/develops equipment and methods for measurements. -Supports the Mexico plant on all measurement issues. -Documents departmental and work procedures. -Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education:
B. S. in Optical, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Statistical or Electrical Engineering. Experience: Required: Three to five years in a QC/QA inspection and test area. Hands on experience with gages/tools and techniques. Preferred: Five or more years related experience in an optical manufacturing environment, knowledge of basic statistical data analysis techniques.
Required: Knowledge of print and specification interpretation. Good verbal/written and interpersonal skills. Ability to learn/use basic and advanced measurement equipment. Preferred: Working knowledge of Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility Studies. Experience in following/ maintaining an ISO 9000 Quality System.
