(DRS-CCI) is the premier supplier of instrumentation & control systems for critical applications in U.S. Navy ships.  DRS CCI is a leading innovator and supplier of shipboard hydraulic to electric actuation conversion solutions that reduce construction and lifecycle costs.  Since the 1960s DRS CCI, under our Consolidated Controls legacy name brand, has provided Nuclear Regulatory Commission certified safety, and non-safety, analog and digital distributed controls systems for US and international nuclear power plants.  Products include shipboard control systems and panels, high-performance networks, tactical displays, controllers, circuit cards, detectors/transmitters, and specialty reactor plant instrumentation and control equipment. The division designs, qualifies and manufactures products that help our sailors maintain our nation’s maritime supremacy and our industrial customers to operate safely and efficiently.  We operate on a 9/80 work schedule with core works of 80 hrs in 9 days and every other Friday off.  www.drs-cci.com/careers.

Position Summary:

Become a member of a team of solid Real-time embedded software engineers. Successful candidate will be responsible for design, development, integration, documentation and support testing of military specified products, systems or subsystems. Software development consists of closed-loop control systems, board support packages (BSP), application software, and test software.  All work is hands-on requiring experience with specific development systems, emulators, debuggers, and target processing hardware.  Candidate must possess strong programming skills, be a logical and disciplined thinker, skilled with developing algorithms and analyzing and solving programming problems, with the ability to work independently or in teams. Responsible for completion of assigned tasks on time and budget. 

 

 Duties and Responsibility: 

  • Embedded  Software detailed design and coding
  • Participate in software design reviews
  • Integration and test support for hardware-software systems
  • Generate design and code documentation to company standards
  • Present results to team; respond to comments and questions

 

 Basic Qualifications (include education and years of experience required):

  • U.S. citizen required
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science 
  • Familiar working in a MS Windows environment
  • Ability to program in C & C++ languages
  • Solid real-time embedded software skills with ability to work at the hardware register level
  • Hands on experience with the use of emulators to debug software and circuit cards
  • Experience developing closed-loop control systems
  • Ability to work in a structured environment
  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Ability to work with a hardware engineer debugging circuit designs
  • Ability to follow Coding Standards
  • Ability to adhere to documentation standards
  • Ability to work in a team development environment 

 

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience in Military Software Application development
  • Security Clearance
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and Software Configuration Management tools
  • Knowledge of proper procedures for working with ESD sensitive devices a plus
  • Experience with VxWorks real-time Kernel, or other RTOS
  • Experience in development of Board Support Packages (BSP’s)
  • Experience with Diab C/C++ compiler for PowerPC
  • Experience with Wind River Workbench
  • Experience with Texas Instruments Code Composer

 

 

This position could require the ability to obtain and retain any applicable security clearances, including interim security clearances, within a time period to be established by the Company
